Product Introduction

Variable air volume (VAV) systems were developed to be more energy efficient and to meet the varying heating and cooling needs of different building zones. A zone can be a single room or group of rooms with the same heat gain and heat loss characteristics. VAV systems can save as much as 30% in energy costs as compared to conventional dual duct systems. In addition, they are economical to install and to operate. Duct sizes and central air handling units are smaller and the design
and installation is generally much simpler.

VAV units, or Variable Air Volume systems, supply constant temperature air to an area while the volume of air varies as opposed to a conventional HVAC system which has constant volume and varies the air temperature. General Information

COSMOS make single duct air terminals are designed to regulate the flow of conditioned air in single duct air distribution system. Air terminals include; Basic air terminal, Air terminal with sound attenuator for conventional ducting where Air terminal with rectangular inlet/discharge, Air terminal with flat oval inlet/discharge, Air terminal with circular inlet/discharge for exposed ducting.

Terminals are available with wide range of standard control sequence and work equally well in constant volume and variable volume system.

The highly amplified velocity pressure signal from the AK Star TM inlet flow sensor allows precise airflow control at low air velocities. COSMOS terminals and accessories are wired in compliance with all applicable requirements and tested in accordance with AHRI standard 880.

VAV PID Oval Module

For any PID VAV, air flow measurement is important to ensure better performance. Cosmos Flat Oval VAV module has specially designed inlet cone (oval to round adapter). This facilitates turbulence free air pattern at the VAV inlet, enabling precise air flow reading, even if the air flow rate is 20% of the set air flow. The Ak Star cross flow grid at the VAV inlet amplifies the signal upto 3.5 times. This adds to the accuracy of air flow measurement and super fine performance of Cosmos VAVs.
